I have been working as a counsellor for 20 years, within both the NHS and in private practice. In my therapy sessions with my clients, I work in a cooperative way, listening carefully so that I can fully understand their needs and discuss with them the best ways in which I can help them. I am fully qualified and am BACP registered and accredited.I offer counselling for a wide variety of problems – both to people with long-standing difficulties and to others who have a crisis that is difficult for them to bear on their own. I work with my clients in a non-judgmental and flexible way, helping them to feel comfortable talking about their difficulties. In our first session, we would discuss whether you need exploratory therapy, in which case we would go into your present and past difficulties in depth (a Psychodynamic or Humanistic approach) or whether your current difficulties can be managed by you becoming aware of how your thoughts are affecting your feelings and behaviour (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). It would be your choice, because counselling with me gives you time and space for you to focus on YOUR needs. My main qualifications are a BSc in Sociology, a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Post-Qualifying Diploma in CBT, Courses on Trauma and EMDR levels 1and 2. I also keep up to date with current trends in theory and practice.
